The Consecutive Bachelor of Education (BEd) at Nipissing University is a fulltime, two year professional teacher education program for students who hold a prior undergraduate degree. Fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers, this rigorous program prepares graduates for classroom leadership through coursework, pedagogical training, and substantial practicum experience across P/J, J/I, or I/S divisions.
Program Highlights
Throughout this two-year program, students in the Teacher Education program develop the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to become confident and effective educators. In this program you’ll explore:
- Pedagogical Foundations: Engage in coursework covering curriculum development, assessment strategies, child development, and inclusion.
- Practicum Experience: Participate in structured practicum placements totalling approximately 19 weeks, gaining hands-on classroom experience.
- Division Specialization: Learn within your chosen division (Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate, or Intermediate/Senior), tailoring coursework and teaching experience to your grade range.
- Cohort Learning Model: Join a consistent cohort of peers, supporting collaboration and shared learning across courses and placements.
- Mentorship & Support: Receive guidance from dedicated faculty advisors and associate teachers throughout the program.
- Career Readiness: Graduate prepared to apply for Ontario teacher certification and begin your teaching career with confidence.
