  • Currently attending a high school outside of Canada
  • Graduated from a high school outside of Canada and have not attended any postsecondary institutions
  • You received or are on track to receive a high school or IB diploma from a country other than Canada.

This will be indicated when you select a program on the International Application Service (IAS) portal.

The Nipissing International Application Service portal (IAS) is a one stop shop for everything related to your application. You will be able to view up-to-date information about your application status, including whether your transcripts and other required documents have been received. This is also where your offer of admission and fee receipt(s) will be posted. Make sure you check it regularly.

You can apply to a maximum of 2 programs.

Review the chart on our Alternate Offer website. Find the program you intend to apply to. You do not have to apply to the program(s) listed in the alternate offer column for that program. What is listed is the program(s) we will automatically consider you for. However, if you wish to be considered for another program that is not listed in the alternate offer column you must include it as an application choice when applying to Nipissing.

There are many ways that you can find information on prerequisite subjects.

  • Use the dropdown near the top of this page find the prerequisite subjects for your program of interest based on your COUNTRY OR CURRICULUM.
  • View our International Student Guide
  • Speak with one of our recruitment staff during a school visit or postsecondary fair
  • Reach out to our International Recruitment team at [email protected]

Nipissing does not require supplemental applications for admission consideration.

All applicants to Nipissing University undergraduate degree programs from countries where the dominant language of instruction is other than English are required to demonstrate proficiency in English for admission consideration.

Permanent Resident applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide proof of proficiency in English. Permanent Resident applicants whose first language is not English, but who have lived at least three years in Canada, or a country where English is the dominant language may be exempt.

See our English Language Proficiency requirements page for more details

Visit our IB transfer credit page for more info.

Visit our AP transfer credit page for more info.

Transfer credits will be granted for most GCE/IGCE A Level or CAPE A Level results. Transfer credit will not be assessed until official results are received and you have accepted your offer of admission.

All required documents can be uploaded to the International Application Services (IAS) portal. All documentation must be received before a decision can be made on your application.

Offer of Admissions, PAL Questions

You can expect to receive an admission decision for every program to which you applied and for which you are eligible.

If you do not meet the admission requirements for the program you have applied for, we will offer you admission to a program for which you are eligible. Some of the possible reasons may be that you applied to a program that;

  • Was a competitive program (i.e., Nursing) and you did not meet the required average for admission consideration
  • You did not meet the minimum average for the program applied to
  • You were missing required prerequisite(s)

Depending on the original program you applied to and the reason you received an alternate offer there may be options you can consider immediately or options that you can consider during your first year at Nipissing.

Visit our Alternate Offer website for further information.

If you currently have courses in progress, or have not graduated, your offer will be conditional upon successful completion of your courses and high school diploma by June 30. You should accept by the deadline even though you have not yet met the conditions.

As soon as you have documentation to show that you have met your conditions you are required to upload a copy of your approval to the International Application Service (IAS) portal.

If you do not meet our conditions and/or are not eligible for admission to an alternate program and/or a reduced course load; your Offer of Admission will be withdrawn.

The deadline to accept your offer of admission will be outline in your offer of admission letter. This letter will be uploaded to your application once a decision has been made.

Accept your offer of admission by the date indicated in the offer letter using the International Application Service Portal (IAS) or contact your agent to assist you with accepting your offer through the portal. It is strongly advisable that you accept your offer within two weeks of the date of your letter.

A deposit of $2000 CAD will be required. The deadline for payment will be outlined in your offer of admission. It is strongly recommended that you pay your deposit within two weeks of the date of your letter.

Your deposit should be paid using PayMyTuition. Instructions on how to pay your fees can be found in your offer of admission. Any questions about PayMyTuition can be directed to [email protected].

Due to the recent changes in the study permit process, a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) issued by the Designated Learning Institution (DLI) that you will be attending, must be submitted as part of your student visa application. It is crucial that you take the following steps to be eligible to receive a PAL from Nipissing University.

  • Accept your offer of admission by the date indicated in offer in the International Application Service (IAS) portal or contact your agent to assist you with accepting your offer through the portal. It is strongly advisable that you accept your offer within two weeks of the date of your offer letter.
  • Pay your first payment of $2,000 through PayMyTuition. It is strongly recommended this payment be made within two weeks of the date of your offer letter.
  • Complete your study permit pre-assessment with BorderPass. BorderPass will notify us once your pre assessment is complete

You will be notified once you have been approved for a PAL with instructions on how to access you PAL.

If you have any questions during the process, please contact [email protected]

An estimate of tuition and ancillary fees are provided on your Letter of Acceptance (LOA). You will be required to make two payments that will cover both your tuition and ancillary fees. Your first payment will be the $2,000 deposit, with the remaining balance being the remainder of your fees. The tuition and ancillary fees include your student bus pass, student health insurance plan, access to BorderPass and the $2000 non-refundable tuition deposit. Your residence deposit and fees are not included.

If you plan on applying for the Student Direct Stream for visa processing, you will need to have paid your first-year tuition to benefit from the faster processing time. If you are applying through the regular process, you may still be required to show proof of payment of tuition as part of your visa application. It is strongly advisable that you pay your tuition as early as possible.

The most current tuition, ancillary and residence fees can be found on our Student Financial Services website. Please note, all amounts on your letter of acceptance are based on tuition and ancillary fee rates available at the time of offer and are subject to change. We’ve provided you with estimated fees, please continue to check our website as fees will be updated as soon as the information is available

All deadline dates will be on your LOA.

All fees can be paid through PayMyTuition. Payment of fees is one of the criteria that needs to be met to obtain your Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). We strongly recommend you pay your first term fees within two weeks from the date of your offer letter to allow for the necessary time required for your study permit application process. Failure to meet the tuition fee deadline may result in your withdrawal from your program and courses.

We do! Your final grades make a big difference. All Canadian and international applicants applying directly from secondary school will be considered automatically for guaranteed entrance scholarships – no application needed! Visit our Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships website for further information.

Your first payment of $2,000 is non-refundable unless you have been denied a study permit. If your study permit is denied, and you submit proof, you will receive a partial refund of $1,700. Students who withdraw from Nipissing may be eligible for a tuition refund based on the refund schedule found on our Student Financial Services website, less your non-refundable tuition deposit. Please note that at the time of offer the refund schedule for your intake may not be available. Please continue to check the website as it will be updated as soon as the information is available for your intake.

Ensure you have packed your original documentation to provide to Nipissing upon arrival. All original transcripts must be submitted to the International Office (F205). For a complete list of what you need to bring contact [email protected].
