After Submitting Your Application

For the information below, when we refer to:

  • Domestic Applicants: This means you are current high school student on a study permit in Ontario, or studying in another country at a school that offers the Ontario curriculum.
  • International Applicants: This means you are current high school student on a study permit in Canada (except Ontario), in Canada as a refugee claimant (you have applied for refugee protection but have not yet had a final decision on your claim), or you are studying or have completed your studies in another country (no status in Canada)

Monitor your Application status & Submit additional documents (if required)

Domestic Applicants: Checking Your Application Status

  1. Access the Nipissing University home page and click on “My Nipissing”.
  2. Enter your username (no spaces and case sensitive) – as provided above.
  3. Enter your password. If you have not previously accessed “My Nipissing” your password will be your date of birth in the format Mmmddyyyy. (i.e. March 3, 2007 would be Mar032007 with the first letter of the month a capital letter.)
  4. Click on “Go to WebAdvisor”.
  5. At this time we highly recommend that you change your password. Your password must be 6 to 9 characters in length and must contain both alpha and numeric characters. You may also enter a password hint here that will help you later if you forget your password.
  6. Click on Go to WebAdvisor.
  7. Click on Prospective Students.
  8. At this point you can check for any outstanding documentation and/or your admission status.  Make sure to check for outstanding documentation even if you have an offer of admission. Some offers of admission are conditional and there will be documentation that we need to receive in order to determine if you meet the conditions of your offer.
  • Click on Admission Status under Admission Information.  This will be where you will see an admission decision if one has been made.
  • Click on Important Documents – Outstanding/Received under Communication. This will show you all the documents required to make an admission decision and/or what documents are required to meet the conditions of the offer you received. Once we have received a document it will show as Received in the list. Anything that is not marked Received means that it is still outstanding. 

International Applicants: Checking Your Application Status

The Nipissing International Application Service portal (IAS) is a one stop shop for everything related to your application. You will be able to view up-to-date information about your application status, including whether your transcripts and other required documents have been received. This is also where your offer of admission and fee receipt(s) will be posted. Make sure you check it regularly.

Alternate Offer

If you do not meet the admission requirements or admission averages for programs you applied to, we will automatically consider you for an alternative program that you do qualify for.

Receiving & Accepting Your Offer

Once you receive an offer of admission from Nipissing University you will need to accept your offer by the deadline indicated. Instructions on how to accept your offer of admission will be included in your offer of admission. Unless otherwise stated you will accept your offer through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) website. OUAC has helpful FAQs and How-to videos.

It’s important to respond before the stated deadline, or the offer may expire. If you received a conditional offer, you’ll also need to follow Nipissing’s next steps. Make sure to check both your OUAC, the Nipissing student portal and/or all other communication from Nipissing regularly for updates and further instructions.

International Applicants

Decisions are posted on the International Application Service (IAS) portal. The deadline to accept your offer of admission will be outline in your offer of admission letter. This letter will be uploaded to your application once a decision has been made.

Accept your offer of admission by the date indicated in the offer letter using the International Application Service Portal (IAS) or contact your agent to assist you with accepting your offer through the portal. It’s important to respond before the stated deadline, or the offer may expire. It is strongly advisable that you accept your offer within two weeks of the date of your letter.

Already Accepted Your Offer?

Registration information packages will be e-mailed to new students. New full-time students are strongly encouraged to attend Summer Orientation in order to register. Summer Orientation, including Academic Advising and Course Registration sessions, will be held during the summer prior to the start of the fall term. All new students, especially those with transfer credit, are encouraged to seek academic advice prior to registering for courses.
